The 2009 Camp Season Has Ended.
Friday, August 28th, 2009

Dear Camp Friends,
Camp has ended for another year and we miss all of our new and long time camp friends. It was such a wonderful season and we wanted to share a few highlights.

  • Our new additions to the barn have worked out brilliantly. Calvin, Dewey, and Thistle will be camp favorites for years to come.
  • Leatherworking with David was a huge hit. Campers made halters, bracelets, belts and other gifts for their family pets.
  • Campers were treated to an exciting demonstration of cow cutting when Mary’s guest Trink drove the cow over the stone wall.
  • Our new craft program with Miss Lori introduced some new projects like watercolor, mask making and charcoal drawing.

Many of the counselors have promised to keep in touch and return next year. Kat and Goonie are still here until October schooling the youngsters and trying to find winter homes for the last of the herd. We still have many of our most talented horses available for our free winter lease. They would love to come home with you! For more information, contact Kat at 585-798-2222. Kat and Goonie are also updating the horse section of the website. Check it out so you can pick who you would like to ride for the next camp season. Talk to you next time.

THE START OF OUR LAST SESSION
Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Dear Camp Friends,
Where has the summer gone? I guess that’s what happens when you have so much fun. We have enjoyed the cooler weather. It’s perfect for sleeping and the horses are comfortable. It energizes all of us!
Leather working is a big hit. Dave Nasca, who promises to return next year, enjoys sharing his talent with the kids. He finished making his western saddle while at camp, but he has found that he enjoys English riding. Maybe he will make an english saddle too. Our craft program with Miss Lori is amazing. The most popular project this summer has been the gauze masks. They are created to fit each campers face and are lots of fun to decorate.
Horseback riding is fabulous. Because of all the rain, the footing is soft and the horses are staying sound. Our many new horses have complemented the riding program. Kids are thrilled with the opportunities they have had and counselors enjoy working with them. We hope you enjoy the many pictures that are on our website. Things just couldn’t be better and we are grateful for that.
In September we are gearing up for Family Camp Weekends. They are going to be a blast. For more info check out the tab on the home page or give us a call. We also are planning a Fall Festival the weekend of October 17th. It will be a great chance to see the farm dressed in fall colors, pick a pumpkin, and enjoy the company of your friends from camp. We may even have a weekend stay over for camp alumni who are traveling long distance to visit. Stay tuned for more information. The dinner bell is about to ring (by the way the food has been delicious) so we are signing off for now. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
